How to get one of the $200 Melbourne CBD travel vouchers

The Victorian Government’s regional travel voucher scheme has being going extremely well, so the government has decided to double down for Victorians keen to travel.

A new travel voucher scheme has been announced for travel to metropolitan Melbourne. Basically, that means you can score one of 40,000 vouchers valid to $200 to spend at businesses within metro Melbourne – and that money can be used on accommodation, attractions (like entry tickets to exhibitions) as well as tours.

You’re probably well aware of what “metropolitan Melbourne” means (need we remind you of the “ring of steel”?) so you’ll be able to use the vouchers within the 26 local government areas that comprise metro Melbourne. However, it does exclude LGAs covered by the regional travel voucher scheme including the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, Dandenong Ranges and Frankston.

Vouchers will be available to claim from Friday March 12, and can be redeemed between an eight-week period between March 19 and May 16 2021

There is eligibility criteria to be aware of as well. Vouchers are only available to Victorians aged 18 or over, who spend at least $400 and purchase two nights of accommodation in regional Victoria. There is also a limit of one voucher per household. Keep in mind that vouchers are granted on a first come first served basis, so set your alarms if you're keen to score one.

Accommodation, tours and attractions chosen will also have to meet the eligible expenses criteria for reimbursement, which you can read about here

To access the vouchers, head to the Victorian government website here. Vouchers will be available from Friday, March 12 at 10am. Have your drivers’ licence (or seniors card or proof of ID card) handy, as you’ll need it.

A handy reminder: the final round of the regional travel voucher scheme will go live on March 30. Here’s all you need to know about that.
