It's the first week of autumn, and that can only mean one thing: It's time to do all those things you said you'd do when the weather was nice but didn't manage to get to during official summer. Here are some of our favourite things to do this week.
Eat
Queen Victoria Market's Food Truck Stop ends this week, so if you've been telling yourself for ages, "I really must get to that," well, you really must. Keep an eye out for Jamaican jerk chicken from the Real Jerk; Vietnamese favourites from Nem n’ Nem; Tuscan beef ragu gnocchi from Pasta Face; butter chicken and more from Two Fat Indians; beef short ribs from Bigger than Texas BBQ; and chicken and waffle burgers from Gorilla Grill. And yes, there's a beer garden.
Prefer your food indoors? Maybe bibimbap or KFC (Korean fried chicken, that is) will hit the spot. Here are the best Korean restaurants in Melbourne.
Drink
Say goodbye to summer with a cocktail way up in the clouds. The weather is still good enough to drink at one of Melbourne's best rooftop bars (though we think all weather is rooftop bar weather), just make sure you bring a jumper for chillier nights.
Who says gin is only a summertime drink? Try up to 70 (yes, 70) different gins at Juniperlooza at Boatbuilders Yard. On Fridays and Saturdays you can book in for two hours of unlimited gin and tonics accompanied by tapas for just $59.
Things to do
After nearly a year's hiatus, the gorgeous production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has reopened. We hear the cast cried and thanked the audience on (re)opening night, and we're not surprised. It's been a very long time between spells. But there's never been a better time to catch up with the further adventures of Harry, Hermione, Ron and the gang.
Want something a bit lighter? Book tickets to see brilliant comedians like Judith Lucy, Lano and Woodley and Anne Edmonds at Malthouse's outdoor stage.
